This is the second time for James Otieno, a third-year student at Ruiru Campus, to be denied such big money. Last time he placed a bet which he believed was his 'sure' one https://hivisasa.com/posts/how-neymar-denied-kenyatta-university-student-sh45000 which required Brazil superstar Neymar Jr to score a goal against Switzerland, which did not happen.

My informer, Evans, a friend to Otieno, said he placed a multi-bet of two teams, Sweden to win against Switzerland, with under 2.5 scores, then England to win against Colombia and Kane to score.

After the first match, Sweden playing against Switzerland, the result was so promising for Mr. Otieno. He had predicted it correct and right, the game ended one goal to nil, with Sweden the winning team.

"After the first game all was so fine with him, we went for dinner in a jovial mood, in fact, he sponsored my bill, knowing Harry Kane, (the England captain) won't fail," said Evans.

James Otieno was a happy man after Harry Kane took the spot kick to the back of the net in the 57th minute of the second half.

The game went on well for Otieno until the official FIFA 90 minutes elapsed. The center referee Mark Geiger from the USA was instructed by the fourth official to allow the boys 5 more minutes.

That was when a Yerry Mina, FC Barcelona center back, rose higher than any other player to head the ball home, and Colombia was level to England.

Otieno's promising bet which he placed with a stake of Sh2,000, which was to earn him Sh39,674 was cancelled with that injury-time header.

The game ended in penalties which England won 4 against 3. However, their penalty shootout win was not part of the deal between him at the betting company.

"Time wasee tuliekelea GG (both team to score) tunasharehekea yeye alitoka nje, bila kungojea hadi iishe," (He did not wait for the final whistle, he immediately left after the equalizer) added Evans.
