According to Governor Ali Korane, the DP will be in Garissa to launch construction of the Sh4.8 Million Dekaburi-Garissa Ndogo-Sankuri road.

The Deputy President will launch construction of the road that is jointly sponsored by Garissa county government and the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).

Speaking to journalists in Garissa on Saturday, Korane said that his government is keen on road expansion.

He said that road expansion will create an enabling environment for investment and development.

The Garissa county boss stated that a huge chunk of the county budget has been allocated to roads, health and other prioritise projects.

"We expect the Deputy President in Garissa on Monday where he will be launching various development projects," Korane said.

The Garissa Governor said that his government is working closely with the national government on development.

Korane stated that he will lobby the national government to increase funding to counties.

He said that the current budgetary allocation to counties is not sufficient.

This will be the second time DP Ruto will be visiting Garissa in a span of one month.

Last month, the DP toured Garissa and helped fund raise for construction of Madrassa in Fafi constituency.

GarissaTownship MP Aden Duale is among politicians expected to welcome the DP in Garissa on Monday.
