Mzee Moi's Press Secretary Lee Njiru on Friday confirmed that the head of state had a lengthy discussion with his predecessor as he wished him quick recovery.

He also said that the retired President is recuperating after he was readmitted at the facility barely two days after he was discharged.

“President Kenyatta on Thursday afternoon visited Mzee Moi at The Nairobi Hospital's VIP wing where he is recuperating and the two had a lengthy discussion interspersed with laughter,” read a statement by Njiru.

“The president wished him a speedy recovery.”

Njiru said that Moi is feeling better compared to when he was admitted to the health facility. He also said that Moi, who rose to power in 1978, was under the care of a professional team of medics led by personal physician Dr David Silverstein.

The family has asked Kenyans to avoid speculations because the retired president is only undergoing routine checkups.

The visit of the President comes after weeks of speculations on the health of the former President. The family has also dismissed claims that it has been hiding something after it remained silent over his hospitalisation two weeks ago.
