Nakoru said most of the girls engaging in prostitution are minors who have dropped school.

“Girls operating as prostitutes in Nyamira will not be spared by the law. We can’t continue having several girls dropping school to join prostitution.

"Police should arrest minors engaging in prostitution dressing in miniskirts especially at night to sleep with men mostly boda boda riders,” he said.

Nakoru called on parents in the region to be responsible and ensure their children are brought up morally upright.

He warned parents against allowing their small girls to sleep with men famously known as ‘sponsors’ in the exchange of money.

“Careless parents will be arrested and be taken to court to be charged over child negligence. It is time parents in deep villages should cooperate with authorities to ensure young girls remain in school and completes studies,” he noted.

He challenged local chiefd and Nyumba Kumi officials to work closely to curb escalating cases of prostitution in deep villages.

Nakoru was speaking at his office on Thursday.
