Through it's Secretary General and former Rarieda lawmaker Raphael Tuju, the bloc said that it seeks to prevent reigniting the cooling political temperatures.

The seat was declared vacant in December following a petition by former lawmaker David Ochieng' who had the election of Chris Karan annulled over malpractices.

The party also announced that it will not be part of the remaining by-election in Nairobi as well.

“After wide consultations, the Jubilee Party leadership has decided that it shall not be fielding candidates for the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South Constituencies,” Tuju was quoted by the Nation.

He said that President Uhuru Kenyatta-led side is concentrating on development initiatives and would rather shelve politicking for the remaining time.

"So soon after a very divisive electoral period just a year ago, the party is acting in the best interest of various initiatives that will reduce political tension in the country,” he added.

So far, both Karan who is seeking to confirm his August 8 election has declared his bid on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Ochieng' will vie on his Movement for Democracy and Growth Party (MDGP).
