Obado has repeatedly opposed the area dominated by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) direct nomination of the former Rongo parliamentarian to fill the seat left by the late Ben Oluoch who also hailed from the same party.

And according to a report by the Daily Nation on Friday, the Governor has since confirmed his opposition on ODM and pledged his readiness to fund a separate candidate in a bid to complicate the situation for Ayacko and the opposition party.

Initially, in support of immediate Rongo ex-legislature Dalmas Otieno for the seat, he has since shifted his support to Eddy Oketch, after Otieno stepped down from the race to take a Salaries and Remuneration Committee (SRC) nomination.

According to the report, Obado has since handed the youthful hopeful who is eyeing the seat on a Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) ticket a campaign truck which he used in his own 2017 re-election campaigns.

The Governor is claimed to have as well sponsored Oketch’s billboards erected in Migori Town, after initially vowing to campaign against Ayacko, whose nomination he has termed ‘undemocratic and dictatorial’.

This comes at a time when campaigns for the October 8 election are hitting a high cord, with candidates now resorting to door to door campaigns in a bid to woo more voters to their side.

Oketch appeared second in the August 8 race.
