Uhuru who was speaking at Kasarani Stadium during the 2019 Akorino Annual conference warned these politicians whom he termed as 'thugs' saying that he will not sit back and allow them to undermine his leadership.

“These thugs that we elected are busy politicking. They should not think I am their boy, they will not stop me from constructing roads. They didn’t look for votes on my behalf. I went looking for my votes... When they see me remain silent, they should not think they are threatening me. I will flush them out from where they are,” Kenyatta said.

He added: "Just because you are making headlines, don’t think you will bother me. And that is why I stopped concentrating on newspapers or those Facebooks of theirs. If you are an elected leader go to the grassroots construct schools, install electricity for your people stop going around telling us how you shall rise to power. You will not go anywhere without these people."

Nevertheless, will Kenyatta’s recent outburst help cool down the rising political tension in Jubilee? Will Tanga tanga MPs support him to the end of his tenure?

Nerima Wako a renowned political analyst and CEO of Siasa Place, speaking exclusively to Hivisasa on Thursday said that 'Tanga tanga' MPs have zero options but to toe the President's line.

"The tanga tanga team will have to support him. He openly rebuked them and in a sense threatened them to fall in line. By not listening it will show them being stubborn and perhaps even lose public support from their followers. They will have to lay low for a bit until this blows over," says Nerima.

She adds that despite the fact  there have been complaints from Uhuru's backyard that there has been no development and a feeling of being neglected, the president's anger was somehow justified as "his authority was on the line, his control as party leader and also President."
