A Jubilee nominated senator has talked tough over the biting drought in the country.

Millicent Omanga said leaders should stop blaming each other over the persisted drought which has claimed the lives of Kenyans. 

"We all know that the hunger killing Kenyans in different parts of the country is not a new phenomenon. It's a cycle we see every year. Blame games over the horrendous drought situation in the country won't help Kenyans who are suffering," she noted. 

She said it high time for leaders to find a permanent panacea to drought menace problem.

The vocal senator questioned what happened to the drip irrigation project initiated by Turkana county government that was to feed thousands of people.

"Irrigation projects should be embraced since they will help contribute towards improvement of crop productivity and food security," she stated. 

She warned warned leaders against pretending the problem of hunger in this country won't be won through pay bills and charitable donations. 

"We either do it right or stop the pretence all together otherwise, poor Kenyans will continue suffering and dying of hunger," she added.
