For the last seven months, the ODM governor has been struggling to stamp authority in his government given persistent wrangles within government which have paralysed service delivery.

And according to the source, Nyagarama has already secured eight months leave and would handover to Amos Nyaribo one he leaves the country.

"I can confirm that Mzee has secured a leave and will be out of the country for around eight months. He's going for a medical check-up in the US. The DG will assume the roles."

Last year in May, Nyagarama left for two months after handing over to his deputy. He only returned in July after his son, Ndemo Nyagarama died.

But Deputy Chief of Staff Kefa Mocheche has rubbished the reports as 'wishful thinking', adding that the government is not aware of such arrangements.

"It's not true my brother. That's just wishful thinking. He's just around and you'll continue seeing him. Whoever peddling such rumours is just wishing him bad luck."

On Monday, Nyagarama was in a closed-door meeting with Mr Nyaribo, who also reported to the office for the first time in four months. He was in India for kidney treatment.
