A section of MCAs termed the proposals unrealistic. It emerged that the reduction of constituencies and Presidential term limit were among the proposals most MCAs never agreed on before shooting down the bill.

The rejection of the bill is another major blow to Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot as he seeks to change the constitution. Aukot has maintained that he will not relent in the push for constitutional review amid the challenges.

The former presidential candidate has now asked Kenyans to turn up in large numbers to support the bill.

"In case they thought Punguza Mizigo is an event we will shock them. We appeal to all Kenyans to join this Punguza Mizigo movement, and I want to thank Kenyan’s who have supported the Punguza Mizigo Bill so far,” he said on Wednesday during a press conference in Lavington.

Ekuru has been accusing ODM leader Raila Odinga and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru of allegedly masterminding his woes in different parts of the nation.

He has also been alleging that some of the MCAs were paid to reject Punguza Mizigo. Laikipia is the 12th county to reject the bill.
