In an interview with the Star, Manyora said the leaders could be enjoying some benefits by associating with the DP.

The Prof further noted that some of the leaders owe their seats to Ruto, since he helped them win Jubilee Party nominations.

“Helping them secure nominations could be a factor but there are many other reasons why these MPs have decided to be with Ruto all the way,” he said.

“They could also be getting some material benefits when they stick with the Deputy President,” he added.

Prof Manyora also noted that future political ambitions could be one of the reasons why some leaders have decided to stick with the DP.

He divulged that some leaders will face off with rivals allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta, and therefore find it fit to associate with Ruto.

"When you know your opponents are with Uhuru and you are eyeing their seat, you would be better off be with Ruto,” he opined.
