The incident happened in Manyatta Estate after the woman reportedly refused to report the man saying that he has been helping her with her loan repayment.

According to neighbours, the woman also remained silent on the defilement of the girls aged five and ten, both of whom are deaf and mute, refusing to give away the man who she termed the family's breadwinner, also expressing fear that he would leave her.

"She told us she cannot report the matter because the man is helping her repay a Sh2,000 chama loan," Molly Akinyi told the Standard.

Both the woman and the accused were arrested and detained at Kondele Police Station, after which the woman was released to accompany the girls to school.

Kisumu Police Station Gender Desk officer George Oduor said that the man will be attained in court to face defilement charges on Monday.

The children are undergoing tests at the Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.
