President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday hosted Qatar Deputy Prime Minister Qatar Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani at State House in Nairobi.

During their meeting, the two leaders held discussions on affordable housing, telecommunications and renewable energy. The Head of State acknowledged the growing bilateral relations between the two countries. 

Uhuru argued Qatar to invest more in the country in affordable housing, telecommunications and renewable energy.

In increasing people to people interactions between the two nations, Uhuru revealed that Kenya will establish a shipping line that connects Mombasa and Doha. More so, he pointed out that the latest launch of Qatar Airlines flights to Mombasa twice a week will help in connected people from the two countries. 

Qatar Deputy Prime Minister revealed that his country is ready to help Kenya grow in the coming years. 

“We remain a solid partner to Kenya on all fronts. We are ready to work even more closely to take our cooperation to a higher level,” said Sheikh Mohammed. 

The Qatar leader further mentioned that their investors will be more interested in the housing sector. 

President Uhuru assured the Qatar leaders that the country is at a more stable condition security-wise. He also cited a plan to have Arabic taught at Utalii College so that people from Kenya can have ease securing jobs in Qatar. 

In his visit to Kenya, he was accompanied by Qatar's Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Bin Saif Al Sulaiti and Qatar Ambassador to Kenya Jabr Bin Ali Al Dosari.
