Speaking in Kakamega on Saturday, Ruto appeared to okay the controversial trashing of the sugar report that led to calls for Duale's impeachment from Jubilee MPs, saying that it did not go far enough as to reveal the faces behind the importation of Mercury-laced sugar.

"The report that we sent some people to do was shoddy. Instead of telling us who imported the illicit sugar, they named CSs as if CSs are the ones who imported the sugar," Ruto said.

Ruto's words ease the pressure on Garissa Township MP and Majority Leader Aden Duale.

Duale had maintained that the report was trashed because it failed to address the issues it was supposed to address.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and his Kieni counterpart Kanini Kega had been at the front of efforts to have Duale's conduct be investigated.
