Kenyatta said politics should wait up to the next election period which is 2022.

“We want to see our country moving forward and that is the dialogue we want to be participating and engaging in, that dialogue that transforms lives . . . that brings development,” Uhuru said.

In a remark that is likely to buoy Deputy President William Ruto, the head of state told the congregation ‘hiyo masiasa masiasa mtaongea na William 2022’.

Kuongea masiasa masiasa hio ingojee 2022 mtaongea na William mimi nitakuwa naenda nyumbani. Au ni namna gani wenzangu?” the head of state said.

The President was speaking at a congregation during the commemoration of Anti-Corruption Day 2018 at Nairobi.

International Anti-Corruption Day is commemorated annually on 9 December in recognition of the United Nations Convention against Corruption which was signed in Mexico in 2003.

On this day, political leaders, governments, business, legal bodies, and lobby groups join forces against corruption.
