This was disclosed by Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti on Tuesday.

Maliti said the county government will register all residents and issue them with special cards which they will have to produce prior to seeking treatment in any public facility around the country.

He revealed that the ambitious project will be funded by the national government and development partners.

"Machakos is lucky to be among the chosen counties to benefit from the Universal Health Care, the programme will ensure free treatment and drugs to residents with the special cards," Maliti said.

Maliti said affordable health care is a key pillar in the 2030 economic blueprint.

The pilot project has earmarked only four counties including Machakos, Kisumu, Nyeri, and Isiolo in line with the Jubilee government's Big Four agenda.

Maliti spoke during the official launch of the Machakos Market Sacco which received a boost of Sh100,000 from the county government.

Also in attendance were Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kasimbi Kamene, Machakos Town MCA Joseph Mutiso, and former Machakos Woman Representative Susan Musyoka.
