The houses caught fire shortly after 7.00am destroying property worth millions.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire at Bondeni estate was caused by an electric fault while the cause of the fire at Kivumbini estate could not be immediately established.

Isa Gichangi, a former civic leader in the area, said there was a need for Kenya Power to carry out an inspection of the wiring in the estate.

“We are appealing to power provider to carry out an inspection of the wiring in the estate because many power lines supplying power to the estate are hanging dangerously,” he said.

And although Nakuru county fire brigade arrived shortly after the fire started, Rashid Wanjala said there is need to add the number of fire engines in the county for a quick response.
