Police in Nyamache area, Kisii County are currently holding a middle-aged man for stabbing his wife several times over alleged text messages that he came across on her phone.
In an interview, one of the witnesses claimed that the man identified as Isaac Onkundi allegedly snatched a phone from the wife Agnes Onkundi, and perused through the texts before rushing into their house for a knife.
"We saw Isaac coming out of the house with the knife and he immediately started stabbing his wife. When we attempted to help her, he threatened us as well," said Irene Moraa.
Confirming the Monday incident, Nyamache police boss Japheth Mwirichia said the man was arrested by some of the concerned neighbors and taken to the station.
"We thank all those who participated in the arrest of the man who brutally stabbed his wife.
"We can confirm that he is in custody, and the lady underwent first aid in a local clinic then rushed to Kisii Referral Hospital," Mwirichia told members of the press.
The police boss noted that investigations have commenced to unearth the real cause of the crime.
