President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday met Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Uhuru and Lee agreed to boost trade between the two nations.   

The Head of State, who jetted out of the country to attend the Singapore Summit 2019, said that he is impressed with the economy of the host nation.  

The president also said that he was glad that Singapore and Kenya have pioneered in the strengthening of the union between Afro-Asian states. 

He also said that Singapore’s economy has continued to grow because of the cordial ties with other nations, adding that Kenya is ready to follow suit. 

“Taking heed of the examples set by Singapore and other Nations that have emerged from low-income nation status, Kenya has embarked on a transformative agenda to turn our Country into a newly industrializing middle-income country by the year 2030, through implementation of the Kenya Vision 2030,” said the President.

Uhuru went ahead to ask investors from Singapore to consider pumping their money into the country, adding that he is ready to offer them any form of support they need to thrive in their areas of specialisation.

The president was given an opportunity to visit Housing Development Board in Singapore and Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) . 

While there, Uhuru learned how different types of houses are constructed. In Singapore, 80 per cent of the population lives in houses constructed by the government.
