John Wanjohi, a military officer, told the court that he was invited to a series of meetings by Mohammed Hussein Aden, a suspect in Mukhtar’s attempted murder.

The witness told trial Magistrate Francis Andayi that he is a friend of Aden and he (Aden) invited him to a series of meetings allegedly meant to plan Mukhtar’s assassination.

Wanjohi told the court that he was not aware of the suspect's plan, adding that he (Aden) claimed that his friend (Mukhtar) owed him Sh 4 Million and had refused to pay.

The witness told the court that the suspect (Aden) sought services of two young men and a woman in his alleged plan to kill Mukhtar and his lawyer Charles Kanjama.

Wanjohi further revealed that the suspects held several meetings at Tanasha, Blankies and Blue-heart restaurants in Nairobi on how to allegedly get rid of Mukhtar.

The prosecution played CCTV footage of the suspects at a local hotel in Nairobi as they hatched their plot.

The witness told the court that after the last meeting at Blue heart restaurant, the suspect (Aden) asked the two strange men to start the hunt for Mukhtar.

Wanjohi will continue his testimony on March 27.

Aden is charged alongside Juliet Njoki with conspiring and attempting to kill Mukhtar.

The two are out on Sh500,000 bail.

Mukhtar survived attempted assassination on August 19, 2018, and has a bullet lodged in his head.
