When it comes to dating most of you will agree with me that serious relationships begin in campus.
This is because campus represents the transition from high school to a place where your freedom is 100 per cent guaranteed. No one will come to remind you when your preps start, neither will you be forced to attend classes. You choose what is best for you.
At Kenyatta University, students are given the freedom to mingle. Male and female comrades are allowed to visit each other so long as the visits are within the set time, 10 am-10pm.
The freedom makes it possible for most students to start dating while in campus, with some of the relationships ending up in marriage.
However, others misuse the freedom, and end up exchanging ladies in what is popularly known as 'through pass'.
A through pass or rather a through ball is a phrase which originated from football, which basically means a player cuts the defence of the opponent, with a pass which finds the striker who puts it at the back of the net. Barcelona icon Xavi was known for such passes, which set up Lio Messi for most of his goals.
At KU, a through pass is when a guy 'passes' his short-term girlfriend to another guy. You might be wondering how the business unfolds: This is how:
1. They give the girl's phone number to another guy
With the contacts, the new guy will initiate a conversation as the old guy reduces his communication. It is obvious most ladies want attention and with the two chemical equations set up by the two guys, in most cases, she will turn to the new guy without knowing it is all part of a plan. Thereafter the through pass is set to a third, fourth, guy until one lady ends up having several relationships in one semester before she realises the guys she has been dating are all friends.
2. Introduce her to his friends
After the 'fishy' intro, the lady is given the go-ahead to socialise with the new friends and even encouraged to visit their shared-hostel any time she wants. Soon or later, she will be getting the much-needed attention from the friends and not from her guy. That is how they spark a new flame.
