Mr Odinga, who has been attending several high profile AU meetings in Tanzania, landed in the country on Friday. He is the chief guest in several empowerment activities geared towards uplifting women organised by Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi.

And Mr Kuria, a traditional critic of Mr Odinga, announced that he was to share podium with Mr Odinga alongside Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho. Kuria is seeking to inherit Mt Kenya voting block from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"En route to Wajir to support my sister Hon Fatuma Gedi in various empowerment activities. Rt Hon Raila Odinga and Governor Ali Hassan Joho will be joining me," wrote Kuria on his Facebook.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed had earlier on revealed Mr Odinga's trip to North Eastern part of the country. A photo shared on his Twitter shows leaders from the region ushering in Mr Odinga.

"Accompanying H.E @RailaOdinga to Wajir County, alongside 20 fellow MPs and other leaders from across the political divide. He will be chief guest for an initiative by Hon. Fatuma Gedi, County Woman Rep," he said.

Mr Odinga's trip comes days to Wajir West by-election slated this April. ODM hand-picked Prof Yusuf Elmi following the departure of Ahmed Kolosh, immediate former MP who was ousted by Supreme Court.

Mr Kuria ditched DP William Ruto's camp and has been moving on his own. Should he be on ballot, he's likely to face Mr Odinga, who could also try his fifth stab at presidency.
