Visiting former United States President Barrack Obama is set to launch among others, a basketball pitch in his tour of Siaya county.

The pitch is part of the 'Sauti Kuu' youth empowerment program founded by his sister Auma Obama at the Sauti Kuu Vocational Center in Kogello.

He will as well proceed to open other allied projects in an event that will as well see the delivery of speeches by him and other leaders and stakeholders in attendance.

Also in the centre is other sports facilities including football and handball pitches and vocational halls from where the youth will be handed vocational skills for self-reliance.

Meanwhile, everything is set at the venue which is located close to a kilometre from his grandmother Mama Sarah Obama's home in Nyang'oma.

Obama who has since landed at the Kisumu International Airport is expected to first visit the grandmother for breakfast before presiding over the launch about 800 metres away.

Security has since been beefed up in both venues, with area leaders, including the Luo council of elders expressing hope that he will make time to address them. 

After that, he is expected to leave for another tour of South Africa directly from the Kisumu Airport.
