The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) has ordered for the arrest of three members of the  Homa Bay County Assembly, and four officials from the Finance and Procurement Department over allegations of embezzlement of public coffers.

In a press statement on Thursday, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji noted that his office is satisfied that the seven were involved in misappropriation of county funds in 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 financial years.

The seven are; Hon. Michael Owino Ooro, Hon. Isaac Ouso Nyandege, Hon. Judith Akinyi Omongi, Otieno Bob, Caroline Sang, Moris Odiwuor Amek, and Edwin Omondi Okello.

 According to the release, the directive follows complains initially presented to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), with the team set to face several charges of economic crime.

‘’I have directed the EACC to immediately cause the arrest of the persons to have them arraigned before court. In the meantime my office is preparing the necessary charges,’’ reads the statement in part as is posted on the ODPP twitter handle.
