The plan was announced by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama who said that he will move to court to ensure that in future, the DP retires alongside the president.

While reacting to the announcement on Saturday, the controversial former Gatanga parliamentarian termed the plan a good one to his 'friends' out there.

"Thank you Hon. Johnson Nduya Muthama for sending a good message to my friends out there," Murathe wrote on his official Facebook page.

In the announcement, Muthama, however, noted that his plan is not directly targeting DP William Ruto, but anyone coming after a president he served under, as means is ensuring that new ideologies are brought on board.

The ex-senator said the nation needs a new pair of leaders after every regime, to ensure that no old ideologies are retained.

"Isije ikaonekana nafanya mambo haya kumzuia Ruto, hata naweza ambia wakili wangu aseme Ruto aachiwe awe ndiye mtu wa kwanza kuitisha kiti baada ya kutumika na rais, lakini baada ya hii, tukienda 2027, iwe hakuna makamu atasimama na kuitisha kiti. (Let it not be seen that I am doing this to block Ruto, I can even direct my lawyer to let Ruto be the first one to vie after serving under the previous president but after that, in 2027, there will not be another deputy president vying to succeed the president)," Muthama said.

After his fallout with the party early in the year, Murathe vowed to use all mechanisms within his reach to ensure that he blocks the DP from the presidency, including through the courts.
