Political analyst Ambrose Weda has observed that Deputy President William Ruto is the man to beat for the presidency in the approaching 2022 general elections.
In an interview on KBC English Service's 'The Big Conversation' Wednesday morning, Weda said that Ruto will reap big from his political sharpness.
Weda argues that Ruto has always clinched and utilized each and every political opportunity at his disposal, and also has his way with words in convincing the masses.
"He is very sharp and that is why he is the DP at a young age. He also knows what to say basing on where he is and who he is addressing and is equally very convincing," he said.
He gave an example with Thursday last week when Ruto was seen endearing himself to members of the Luo community.
The DP had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to Kisumu county.
Above all, Weda believes, Ruto has made a name for himself as a generous and rich man, and will attract more support to his side courtesy of his readiness and willingness to help out financially.
"With all these qualities and his generosity, he becomes a very dangerous man to his opponents," he added.
Ruto's generosity has landed him in trouble with a section of leaders who have questioned the source of his money.
Others have called for investigations on his regular contributions in fundraisers almost on a daily basis.
