South Eastern Kenya University, Kitui campus bachelor of Arts student was nearly slaughtered by a rich man she allegedly met on Facebook.

The student, Purity Mwende was attracted to the man after he promised he will marry her after meeting despite advice from friends not to meet the stranger alone.

Mwende had already made up her mind to meet the 'new catch'.

Only one thing saved her life, otherwise, she could be dead today.

“Am alive today because of God’s grace," Purity said.

She met this guy, Martin on Facebook and after chatting for some time, they fell in love

"He used to send me money for use until one time he proposed we meet. We agreed to meet at Nairobi Panari hotel along Mombasa road at 6 pm on Friday," Mwende revealed.

She arrived at the agreed place 30 minutes earlier. At exactly 6 pm she saw a cool saloon car drive into the luxurious hotel.

"I was a bit nervous. I saw a cool black saloon car and knew it was him. He gave me a cool kiss and warm hug. I felt like I was in another world," Mwende continued to narrate.

The man ordered food and drinks as they knew more about each other.

Mwende started to be suspicious when someone started calling 'his man' but the man ignored the calls severally.

After like 10 minutes, he excused himself after receiving another call from the same person who was nagging him and went to the washrooms, it was at this point that she suspected things were not right.

After a few seconds, she followed him to the washrooms secretly. Just then she overheard him say “ I got the sacrifice at hand, just prepare requirements, I will be there in 1 hour."

"I was shocked and almost collapsed, I composed myself, said a short prayer and quickly moved out of hotel took express motorbike up to Mlolongo," she said.

Hurriedly, Mwende picked a matatu to Machakos town where she boarded another matatu back to Kitui.

She switched off her phone and deactivated her Facebook account in shock.

"I had to change my identity. Life is so fragile. That was the turning point in my life” said Mwende while in tears.

She warned people to avoid meeting strangers, especially from social media.
