Gideon said his father is doing well due to Kenyans' prayers and he is hopeful that Mzee will be discharged soon.

“Mzee Moi was admitted to hospital but he is getting better and we are confident God is taking care of him because of your prayers. We are very hopeful that in the next few days, he will be back with us at home. Thank you and God bless you all,” Gideon posted on his Facebook page on Friday.

Mzee Moi was admitted in the afternoon of Wednesday 12.

His personal doctor David Silverstein said the retired president was undergoing normal routine medical check-ups.

Although Gideon did not reveal the date his father will be released from the hospital, it is clear that Mzee is out of danger and is recovering well.

Moi’s admission saw him miss the recent graduation ceremony at Kabarak University on Friday 15th where he is the Chancellor but his son  Gideon Moi attended the event on his behalf.

Mzee Moi celebrated his 94th birthday on September 2nd.
