According to an online post by the Standard digital, Sonko’s list contains the following names as potential candidates for the deputy governor’s position; Anne Kiguta,Miguna Miguna,Janet Ouko,Agnes Kagure Kariuki,Bishop Margaret Wanjiuku,Dennis Waweru,Millicent Omanga,John Gakuo,Karen Nyamu,Jimna Mbaru,Raymond Matiba,James Ole Kyapi,Polycarp Igathe,Esther Passaris,Irungu Nyakera,Susan Matiba,Jomo Gecaga,Njee Muturi,George Kariuki,Muhoho Jomo Kenyatta,Rachel Shebesh and Simon Mbugua.

In my opinion, Sonko should go for Miguna Miguna as the first choice and Esther Passaris as the second choice.Esther Passaris is good for affirmative action (gender balance).

She also has proven track record with the Adopt-A-Light initiative to lighten up the city of Nairobi. The fact that Esther Passaris is from NASA makes her ideal. It will make Sonko look like a statesman who embraces inclusivity.

Miguna Miguna is my first choice because he is a tough-talker and an idealist. In his manifesto to transform Nairobi County, he talked of some very good and ideal plans that if executed would make Nairobi a better place to live in.

Miguna Miguna is also an ideal candidate to deputize Sonko because he is an academician. He will blend well with Sonko. He is a poet and a prolific writer. He will assist Sonko to develop sound policies to run the city.

Following in the footsteps of President Uhuru Kenyatta when he made a historic move to work with opposition leader Raila Odinga, it would be very interesting to see Sonko taking the same bold move to work with the self-proclaimed general of National Resistance Movement (NRM).It will go to greater lengths to consolidate the president’s attempt to reconcile the country and leave a united Kenya when he retires in 2022.
