The Orange Democratic Movement party has come out guns blazing following the remarks made by Governor Okoth Obado during Deputy President William Ruto's visit to Nyamira on Saturday.
At the event, Obado asked Kenyans to pray for him on the pretext that he's under attack from a 'crocodile', thus irking ODM party leaders.
"Please pray for me. I am under attack from the crocodile and your prayers will help me to sail through," he said.
ODM leader Raila Odinga has often used crocodile remarks in reference to his failed State House journey, thus eliciting interpretation that he may have been referring to him.
ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire now says the remarks were unprecedented, adding that Obado should solve his problems without dragging the party leader.
"That was very unfortunate. He should deal with his issues without dragging Raila into them. Neither Raila not the party has anything to do with it," he said.
Party Vice Chairperson Janet Ong'era insisted that Obado misinterpreted Raila's figurative language, insisting that he should apologise.
"It's pretty unfair and we must understand that crocodile terminology as used by Raila has nothing to do with Obado. That was gross disrespect and it should be punished."
Similar sentiments were put across by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed who accused Obado of shifting his problems to the party.
On Tuesday, EACC raided Obado's Migori and Nairobi homes to receive crucial documents that could give them a lead to missing Sh2 billion since 2013.
