Here are some of his relatives likely to vie and even win elective seats in the Luo Nyanza region.

1. Ruth Odinga

The former Kisumu Deputy Governor has never been on the losing side. She previously served as the second in command to Ex-Governor Jack Ranguma, after a forced union by the ODM party.

She is currently the Director of Special Programmes in the county, after shifting her support from Ranguma to current county boss Anyang' Nyong'o in the 2017 elections.

She is the sister to Raila and an influential leader in the county, especially among women.

2. Jakoyo Midiwo

The former Gem lawmaker who doubles up as a cousin to Raila lost to Elisha Odhiambo in 2017, after which he stormed out of the ODM party in protest, before returning.

In case the former National Assembly Minority Whip manages to bounce back in 2022, he will be among the many relatives of Raila who could land juicy positions in the polls.

His vocal nature makes his return a very possible thing, and his closeness to Raila is another factor that could give his rivals, especially Odhiambo, a nightmare.

3. Oburu Oginga

The former Bondo lawmaker is currently serving as Kenya's representative to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Tanzania, after losing his Bondo seat in the 2013 polls.

His attempts to recover the seat which he easily won in 1994, after the death of his father and founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga were futile in the following 2017 elections.

He is very likely to once again try his luck in elective politics come 2022, and could even go for a bigger seat.

4. Jaoko Oburu

He is the son to Oburu, and is currently serving in the Siaya county government's trade department.

Just like his father, grandfather and uncle, he is expected to try his luck in politics soon, which could mean the fast approaching 2022 polls.
