Deputy President William Ruto’s net worth has been a subject of concern to many Kenyan following a report by research firm IPSOS that ranked him as the most corrupt politicians in the country.

During an interview on BBC that was aired on Tuesday, the second in command declined to reveal his net worth.

The moderator, Stephen Sackur, who hosts the HARDtalk show, tried to pin Ruto down to admit that he is the most corrupt leader but his efforts didn't bear fruits.

It took two minutes before the debate proceed after Ruto, who has hinted at contesting for the Presidency in 2022, declined to give a response.  The moderator questioned why Ruto had not followed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s direction to undertake a lifestyle audit.

The DP said that he is the only one who has been asked to undergo the audit as the fight against corruption continues.

“I’m the only politician in Kenya who has been subjected to a lifestyle audit. No other politician has,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The DP, who is opposed to the creation of the office of the Prime Minister, accused opposition of trying to use the audit report to frustrate him ahead of the race for power.

He maintained that he has not been involved in corruption as perceived by many Kenyans in different capacities.

The  DP has insisted that his walk to State House is unstoppable amid rising political temperatures in Jubilee following the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga, who is considered his fiercest rival.
