ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire now wants MPs to whistle in parliament as a sign of solidarity with ordinary people over 8% VAT proposal by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On Tuesday, MPs will debate proposals to Finance Bill by Uhuru in a special sitting.
And Bosire, a former Kitutu Masaba MP, said whistling will vindicate MPs seriousness in fighting for people's rights.
"Let all MPs come out on Tuesday and whistle in parliament in solidarity with the people.
"It is not all about taking tea in parliament. It will be proper of they show that openly. Uhuru Kenyatta has no moral authority to tax petroleum products," he said on Friday.
Legislators from either side of political divide have shown signs of rejecting Uhuru's proposal.
Many of them wants VAT to be pushed to zero for betterment of people's lives.
Mr. Bosire, a staunch supporter of Raila Odinga, was among MPs who whistled in parliament during agitation for reforms in the country.
