Several people sustained injuries in the accident after a 14-seater matatu ferrying passengers from Githunguri to Nairobi collided head-on with a lorry.

Confirming the incident, Kiambu OCPD William Barslip said that the accident might have occurred after the lorry’s brakes failed.

According to the police boss, the mechanical failure caused the lorry to crash into the matatu, reports Citizen Digital.

The injured were treated at the Kiambu Referral Hospital where they were taken for emergency treatment after the incident.

This comes two days after two people died following a dawn accident in Athi River, Machakos.

Nine other people who were travelling from Mombasa to Nairobi were left with serious injuries after their bus rammed into a lorry.
