Former Rongo Member of Parliament Ochilo Ayacko has made a rare move, turning down President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ambassadorial nomination to ‘’serve his Migori people’’.

The former Migori gubernatorial aspirant is considered a possible participant in the pending race for Migori senatorial seat, after the demise of former Senator Ben Oluoch Okello who succumbed to cancer last month.

This means that the people of the great county will have an even harder task in electing their next leader, considering that other popular names are expected to feature in the race.

These include immediate former lawmaker of Rongo and Ayacko’s successor Dalmas Otieno, who also  boasts of a vast experience in the political arena and, apparently, has every capability to serve in that capacity.

It also means that they are to some extent indebted to the leader and could have to deal with the guilt should he vie and fail, after he openly noted that he is rejecting Uhuru’s offer to concentrate on serving them.

‘’I am ready to serve the great people of Migori either as a ward rep, MP, senator or  governor and that is where my focus is,’’ Ayacko told the Nation on Sunday.

With the region heavily leaning towards the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) side, it could as well lead to another round of encounters and foul cries as the contestants race for the party ticket.

These have severally led to encounters and disruption of peace in the past and could repeat itself, hindering people’s operations, if not well handled.

Ochillo's slot has since been passed to former Kasipul Kabondo lawmaker Paddy Ahenda.
