The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) released a report showing suspected irregular payment on the ongoing project.

The authority has raised concern over the tendering process as well as the standard of the project. The authority has asked the governor to explain why the county government parted with more than Sh196 million yet the technical evaluators had valued the same below the said amount.

The government paid the contractor the said millions despite concerns. The authority embarked on the review of tender no NCC/ED/T/193/2017-2018.

It wants the government to shed more light on the project expenditure. PPRA has appealed to the anti-graft bodies to summon Sonko to present documents pertaining to the contract.

“The Dandora contract was for the construction of a concrete structure, however, the contractor supported by the officers at the county put up steel structures,” states the report by PPRA signed by Dr Francis Amayi.

Some of the areas the authority wants examined include payments, forgery of documents and irregular award of contracts. It emerged that the county government had paid more than Sh1 billion for the construction of different stadiums.

The stadia are Dandora (Sh350 million), Ziwani (Sh186.6 million), Kihumbuini (Sh250 million) and Kawangware (Sh250 million).
