This was after the Director of Public prosecutions Noordin Haji issued an order for the arrest and a report that revealed the said government officials were involved in a mega corruption scandal in the construction of Kimwarer and Arror dam project.

Shortly after their arrest, CS Rotich and PS Thugge were taken to the offices of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations where their details including fingerprints were recorded.

According to a report by the Standard Digital, the CS was driven to Muthaiga police station on Monday at around 6:00 pm. His Principal Secretary, on the other hand, was first taken to Pangani police station before he was transferred to Muthaiga Police station where Rotich was at around 7:00 pm.

Rotich was allowed to receive only five visitors during the night at the police station. The visitors included his family members and lawyers.

The CS and Thugge, his PS, who shared a police cell were reportedly relaxed and calmed during their stay.

“He seemed relaxed and ready for anything. He and the PS understood, from their experience, why the police have been in need of money to construct and renovate police facilities,” a source was quoted by the Standard Media.

On Tuesday at around 5:00 am, the two received basic items including clothes, toothpaste among others before they were driven to Milimani law courts.

They arrived at the courts at around 6:30 am where they waited until 9:00 am before they made their appearance in court where they pleaded not guilty to corruption charges and were later on released on a Sh.15 million cash bail.
