Speaking on Saturday during a pre-wedding ceremony in his constituency, Musau noted with concern that sand harvesting is majorly practised in Nyanyaa, Makiliva and Mbiuni promising to fight it to the bitter end.

He said that he won't sit and watch as sand barons threaten his people and the environment.

"They have been carrying bows and arrows threatening locals opposing sand harvesting claiming they will come for their heads, they should know I won't relent, I will pursue them to the bitter end if they don't quit the business," said the MP.

Musau further observed that he has faith in the new police and administrative personnel in dealing with the issue.

He said it was shameful that his home area, Mbiuni is leading in the vice.

"People think I'm condoning sand harvesting in Mbiuni because it's my home area, no I will fight sand harvesting equally," he insisted noting that some of the residents have been condoning and benefiting from the business.

"We have invested a lot in education yet our children have joined the barons as turnboys to earn," he added.

The MP promised to form a youth initiative meant to adopt those who have been absorbed in the trade.

Last week, two lorries and several houses were burnt by unknown people in Mbiuni in protest of sand harvesting.
