The appointment of former Citizen TV anchor Kanze Dena as Deputy State House spokesperson and Deputy Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU) was the best news she has ever received.

Dena’s walk to success has not been easy as many people think. The journalist has been forced to burn the midnight oil at some point in her life to ensure that her dreams come true.

Take or leave it, Dena is now one of the most respected Kenyans alive. She recently accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to the United States of America and clearly, her stars are shining brighter than ever.

Did you know Kanze is also an actress? She started acting while at Kyeni Secondary School. She was among the best actresses during drama festivals. Her determination made her rise to the top despite the endless challenges she encountered in life.

While working as a waitress after high school, Kaze got pregnant but the father of the child disappeared from her life. Life became tough on her side and she even contemplated giving up at some point. The pregnancy affected her relationship with her mother. Unfortunately, the child died three months after birth. This, however, did not mark the end of her life as she struggled her way into the media before landing the government job.  Here are some of her best TBT photos.
