Early this week, Mr. Gichana was sentenced to five years in jail on top of being fined Sh13 million but has already served the jail term.

Political pundit Gideon Mamboleo says Bosco could play a major role in Raila Odinga's team should the latter contest.

"His popularity is dangerous to Ruto's bid now that he's likely to side with Raila in 2022.

"He has left jail a strong man with many followers. Ruto did nothing to rescue him and this could eventually affect his 2022 bid in Gusii," he argues.

With the paradigm shift in geopolitics, he adds, Don Bosco could end up inheriting Governor James Ongwae's voting block given that the county boss retires in 2022.

Others likely to fall due to Bosco's populism include Ruto's campaigner Antony Kibagendi and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka.

Already, hundreds of youths on social media wants Bosco to collaborate with Simba Arati for Kisii County gubernatorial seat.

Raila is said to have played an important role in Bosco's release with sources intimating that he held talks with Tanzania President John Magufuli.

The DP is keen to throw Raila off-balance in both Nyamira and Kisii Counties with an estimated voting population of 1 million. Both men have toured the region severally with August having them visit twice.
