Former Lagdera MP Farah Maalim has weighed in on the grueling rift between Kenya and Somalia over the disputed maritime area that is rich in oil blocks and gas.

Maalim says that Somalia has not auctioned the oil blocks as the Kenyan government is alleging.

In a post on his Twitter page, Maalim blamed Kenyan foreign affairs officials saying their allegations are uncalled for.

According to Maalim, the oil blocks belongs to Kenya and Somalia has no business auctioning the oil blocks.

“We exhibited the epitome of quack management of our foreign relations. What is basic availed information to any high school student who watches international news, has internet buddle’s and knows how to Google was not available to the folks running our MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs),” Maalim tweeted.

The former National Assembly Deputy Speaker warned the maritime row brought about by what he termed as "uncalled for alarm and quack management by Kenyan officials" could generate into something else if not handled properly.

The rifts between Kenya and Somalia over the oil blocks and gas has attracted attention with leaders across the divide calling for urgent resolutions.

The Kenyan government is accusing Somalia of allegedly auctioning the oil and gas blocks in its territorial area.
