As the police chopper landed on Thursday at Nyamira primary, sombre mood engulfed the town with leaders lining up to receive him.

Speeches followed as people from all walks of life paid trubute to the former West Mugirango MP who died two weeks ago.

Governor John Nyagarama, MPs Ben Momanyi, Vincent Kemosi and Senator Okong'o Mogeni hailed Mr. Obwocha as a patriot.

And when time came to ferry the body to his Igena-Itambe home, human and car traffic was the order of the day as onlookers watched from a distance.

Businesses closed down as those who knew him chanted 'Egesora' slogans, synonymous with his campaigns.

He will be laid to rest on Friday in a ceremony where ODM leader Raila Odinga among other dignitaries are expected to attend.
