The Tottenham Hotspurs midfielder who doubles up as the Harambee Stars midfielder and captain has for a few years been a very important organ of the national team.

However, many Kenyans remain on the dark on what the man who hails from a soccer playing family team, considering that his elder brother McDonald Mariga also played for some of the most known European clubs earns.

According to the Standard Newspaper-owned Game Yetu,  Wanyama is the 12th in the Tottenham payroll and takes home a weekly pay of 65,000 Euros, which amounts to Sh8.3 million.

His annual pay stands at 3,380,000 Euros (Sh436 million).

He earns more than Liverpool FC striker Divock Origi who also has Kenyan roots, and who takes home Sh5.8 million (45,000 euros) weekly.

Origi is 21st in Liverpool payroll and earns 20,000 euros less than Mugubi on a weekly basis.

Before joining the top English Premier League side, Wanyama played for Celtic and Southampton FC.

His brother Mariga on the other hand played for among others, Internationale Milan (Inter Milan).

Origi is on the other hand a Belgian national.
