Led by Okioma Omwancha, the leaders claimed that Nyagarama’s administration should consider paying health workers so that they can resume work.

“It is sad that Nyagarama’s administration has failed to address the ongoing health crisis in the county.

"Nyamira constituents seeking medical services at public health centers are suffering while Nyagarama and other county workers are earning monthly salaries comfortable. It is time Nyagarama should move with speed and pay health workers,” said Omwancha.

The politician regretted that county employees are seen fueling vehicles and loitering around instead of using the money to pay health workers.

“County ministers and other employees assigned with county vehicles have been fueling cars which they use to go to Kisii County hotels . The money should instead be used to pay health workers who boycotted work,” he stated.

Senator Erick Okong’o said Nyamira people are dying at homes since there are no nurses at public health centers to attend them.

“Our people are dying because operations at public health centers have been paralyzed by the ongoing health workers’ strike.

"Nyagarama and his Deputy Amos Nyaribo should consider paying nurses for operations to resume at public health facilities,” the senator noted.

Enock Ogori, Manga ward MCA said MCAs are getting hard times visiting their wards due to the ongoing health workers’ strike.

“We are having challenges to visit our wards since we fear being chased away by the electorates. It is time health workers’ strike should come to an end,” said Ogori.
