Nairobi is among counties every presidential candidate usually focuses his or her eyes on during an election.

This is because the county boasts as the devolved unit with the highest number of registered voters standing at over two million.

Every party during elections jostles for a pie of the county's control by attempting to clinch MP seats in the 17 constituencies that constitute the city county.

During the August 8 general poll, Jubilee managed to outfox the opposition by winning nine parliamentary seats as ODM scooped seven while Wiper managed only one.

What will be during the 2022 general polls is that opposition leader Raila Odinga will be keen on ensuring his party ODM wins more parliamentary posts in order for him to 'control' the city.

But how will the former Langata MP fair on during the poll?

Assuming that all the seven ODM MPs defend their seats in 2022, there is a likelihood that majority of them will easily be re-elected. And among the lawmakers who will clinch victory with ease is Kibra's Ken Okoth.

The only MP who may find difficulty in defending his position is Embakasi East's Babu Owino.

During the August 2017 poll Babu managed to oust his closest challenger Jubilee's Francis Mureithi by only 4,216 votes implying Jubilee can tilt this outcome in 2022 and take the seat from ODM.

All other ODM MPs, Westand's Timothy Wanyonyi, Dagoretti North's Simba Arati, Tom Kajwang' (Ruaraka), George Aladwa (Makadara) and Mathare's Anthony Oluoch clinched their seats with much ease that if they defended the posts in four years, they will return to Parliament.

The advantage these six leaders have is that they represent constituencies with a huge number of people who identify with Raila and the opposition.
