The DP who claims to have been raised in a humble background has been referring to himself as a hustler, most probably to win the hearts of the majority poor Kenyans.

But former Subukia lawmaker Koigi Wa Wamwere on Saturday poked holes into the narrative, saying that he is no longer a hustler and has been out of that level for long.

"The Deputy President is no longer is hustler (Naibu wa rais sio hustler tena)," Koigi said on Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday evening.

The former Assistant Cabinet Minister observed that Ruto's placement among the leading politicians and his position at the helm of the state places him in the house of lords and kings.

He, therefore, cautioned him against lying to Kenyans with the intention of winning sympathy votes using the narrative that he is struggling, as its clearly visible that he is not.

"He has now joined the level of kings, he is in the house of lords and should stop lying (Sasa ameingia tabaka la wafalme, ameingia house of lords, asitudanganye)," Koigi noted.

Ruto's allies have also been using the same narrative in a bid to fight his supposed rivals, whom they have branded 'dynasties', a group led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Others in the group are former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi, whose father's served in previous governments.

To further rub it in, Ruto has been referring to his official Karen residence as the hustlers' mansion.
