Thursday's controversial passing of Finance Bill in parliament would turn out to be Jubilee's monster in 2022, Cherangany MP Jushua Kutuny has said.

Coupled with high cost of living, he added, leaders allied to Jubilee may face battle for popularity in the elections with Deputy President William Ruto likely to be affected.

“As legislators we have a hard time explaining ourselves to the people who look up to us for assistance. Kenyans are suffering already because of hard economic times and the last thing they need is an additional burden to bear," he said

The legislator said if the way parliamentarians communicated during the vote on the Finance Bill was anything to go by, it will become hard for the House to pass government business without tight scrutiny.

“If this government wants to succeed, they should go back to the drawing board and seek ways to bring down cost of living. Failure to do so will interfere with its smooth operations,” said Kutuny.

His statement, though indirect, raises fears that President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision could throw the DP into paralysis when seeking to succeed him.

On social media, Kenyans chided Uhuru following the passage of 8% VAT, with MPs accusing speaker Justin Muturi of rigging them.

Although he showed up in Jubilee party PG at State House, Ruto did not come out open about the controversial bill with sources claiming that he had reservations about it.

Only Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga whipped MPs openly to back the bill even though majority of them defied the parties resolutions.
