Even after jetting from abroad on Monday, the president's silence over controversial 16 per cent VAT on fuel has caused jitters among Kenyans.

On various social media platforms, Kenyans from Nyamira accused the President of betrayal over hiked fuel prices.

"Where is he now after enticing us to vote him? I thought he would speak on the economic atrocities," said Joel Morumbwa on Facebook.

Blogger Olivia Moraira added: "I am looking for the president. He is hiding somewhere in Kenya. Kindly if you see him, ask him to speak about fuel."

Some ridiculed Jubilee supporters who overwhelmingly voted for the president in October 2017 polls.

"Those who sang Tano Tena kindly produce this man. He's hiding even though he jetted back. He can't create debts and shift burden on us," added Obed Ong'era.

The president jetted in quietly and he's yet to make a public appearance.

But on Thursday, he's expected to make first appearance at Kenya School of Government in Kabete where he will address security teams.

Kenyans are waiting to see whether the president will assent to amended version of Finance Bill which proposes removal of VAT on fuel.
