Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has maintained that he will not tolerate corruption in his government days after his deputy Francis Maliti was ousted by MCAs from the CEC Finance docket.

The second-term governor said that he will not take it lightly when leaders want to loot public resources only for them to seek protection using other means. 

Mutua said he will continue with his fight against corruption without fear or favor.

 “I will not allow corruption to fight back. Every leader should be accountable on how government resources are used and should not hide under notions meant to blackmail those demanding transparency,” Mutua twitted.

Mutua criticized the MCAs for impeaching Maliti terming it political witch hunt.

He said the lawmakers were not right to send his deputy home. 

The MCAs impeached the deputy governor on the grounds of alleged gross misconduct and incompetence.

Led by Matungulu East MCA Cosmas Masesi, they said Maliti doesn’t deserve to hold the docket.

Mutua said his deputy is entitled to demand an explanation from the MCAs on the way they spent public funds during the last financial year. 

"As part of that responsibility, the deputy governor has to ensure that funds utilized by the executive and assembly are spent within the law and accounted for,” Mutua said.
