Kalonzo termed the project as a game-changer in solving hunger and starvation that is common in the county.

He said Ngilu’s project is already transforming lives by empowering locals.

The former Vice President said Ngilu is going places in terms of development.

“I want to appreciate governor Ngilu’s Ndengu project which is changing lives and urge other elected leaders to do something in efforts to empower Kenyans,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo spoke in Kitui town on Tuesday.

He urged the government to help Ngilu find market for the Ndengu project.

Ngilu in partnership with the Kenya Red Cross launched the project in the county in 2017.

A section of Kitui leaders has been accusing the governor of failing to provide the market for farmers.

Last month, Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi claimed that Ngilu had duped farmers that she would provide a market for the produce.

Mulyungi said farmers were desperate hence sell their produce to middle-men who fleece them.
